The World Cup
So, the World Cup draw has been made, and England got quite an easy group me thinks. I bet Drogba and Ronaldo are gutted about their group. They only have to deal with Brazil to go any further. South Africa being the hosts will have a tough journey to the next round, but it was nice of them to put this together for all those that will make it. Group A should see France and Uruguay qualify.I don't expect Maradona to make too many slip up's and should easily finish top of their group. Can't really see anyone else in group B finishing 2nd, but someone has to, so i think Nigeria. Out on a limb there. We'll see. Group C, well it's England, innit. So the three lions and team USA for me. If England don't get through to the next round from this group, then it's going to be a complete waste of 2 weeks off. Group D has Germany and Serbia written all of it, in Capitals. Now, group E is interesting. The Dutch should finish top of the group, but i think the battle for second place is going to be a lot of fun. If I had to make a bet, I would probably go with Denmark, but I don't have to, so I'm leaving that open. Group F will probably see Italy and Paraguay go through, but I'm sure New Zealand would love to meet the Aussies in the Final. Not going to happen guys, unless you can get Jim to fix it for you, or if you play Subutteo. Before we go back to the group of death, let's look at group H. Spain will definately go through and I think they may take Chile with them, although the Swiss might have something to say about that. Not really sure. And then there was GOD, the group of death. Group G. I don't see North Korea as a threat, only to themselves and their glorious leader, Kim Jong Il, beautifully portrayed in Team America..." HARROWWWWW." Bless Stone and Parker for that. But getting back to group G, it's a tough one. Just Pausing for thought..... Ok, we expect Brazil to qualify, but it's a toss up between Ivory Coast and Portugal. Drogba V Ronaldo, which just happens to be the first group match. I suspect the game will be a draw, which then means it's down to how they do against Brazil, with Portugal playing them last. I say Portugal to go through. They both speak the same language, and that will make it easier for the Portugeezers to say, " Chuck us a lifeline." So there it is. My World Cup prediction for the 1st stage of the Competition. It's probably no different to anyone elses. It will be interesting to see what the pundits think. And Alan Hansen.
